I have a MKII empeg & a 2nd one I just bought on ebay w/ a larger hard drive. I want to clone my old MKII to the new one, as I have a lot of playlists & edited tags on the 1st unit. When I started, one unit was 2.0 beta & one was 1.02. I upgraded both units to 2.0 + hijack. The 2.0 empegclone tool doesn't find both units (as per the posts of other users). I tried using FTP to transfer the files, but I've been having problems with that method. I've read that people have successfully downgraded to 1.03 & used the old 1.03 empeg clone tool. My problem is that I only have 1.02 & can't find 1.03 anywhere online. If someone has a copy of the 1.03 firmware & supporting emplode / empegclone software, please email me a zip or 2 of the files. If not, perhaps someone can point me at a location where I can download these online.

Considering you bought another empeg instead of upgrading the hard drive, you're probably not too technically inclined. However, you can probably still get away with using the Lazy Bastard's Guide to Empeg Cloning It pretty much give you step by step instructions to follow. If you get lost, post here and I'm sure people will be able to help. You will need to figure out how to get a hyperterminal connection, which is probably in the FAQ somewhere.

I should point out that, if you download the netcat-minimal.tar.gz from that page, you don't need Linux or Cygwin on your PC.

This is actually for my brother-in-law & I'm trying to avoid too many trips back to his place to muck with the cloning when things go wrong. That is why my preference is to just downgrade him to 1.03. Also, he's now complaining that his old unit, which previously had 1.02, is now much slower to bring up songs (displays an hourglass, which it didn't before). He'd like to go back to 1.03. Can't someone here be a pal & email me the firmware / utilities?
