I'm looking for a *really good* Windows C++/MFC developer to join the empeg team in Cambridge. You would need to be of technical lead standard, capable of shaping the architecture of projects as well as getting deeply involved with their implementation. If you learned MFC by reading the source code in the bath each night then you're probably the sort of person we're looking for. If you can stand at a whiteboard for an hour and debate the best way to optimise the compilation of virtual functions then you're probably the sort of person we're looking for. If you like Thai food that would be nice too*.

The role will be full time permanant, based at Cambridge UK. We are prepared to help with work permits/relocation for the right person if necessary. Salary considered on merit, and benefits include bonus scheme, contributory pension plan and health care.

Empeg is a geek-friendly and fun place to work, having retained the original "start up" atmosphere. The difference is we now sell products in their hundreds of thousands, so your creations will get a wide audience! Of course this will also be a great opportunity to get those features you've been wishing for into emplode :-)

If you think you might be the person we need (or better yet, if you *know* you are) then send me an email - [email protected].

ttfn.

Rob

* Preference for Thai food is not obligatory for this role.

I'm sure the person who gets this job would automaticially get the fabled V3 alpha everyone wants, so that could be another incentive... :-)

The successful candidate would probably get to FIX the V3 software, or at least the PC side of it

I knew I should have taken a job doing MFC rather than Delphi. My C++ is WAY to rusty now. Curse you Borland!

Not many details -- I'm going to be moving from Cambridge to London so that I can move in with my girlfriend.

I don't (currently) have another job lined up.

Good luck, Roger, I hope you will still stick around to talk with us!

If you are ever in the US snowboarding, let us know too, I know a few of us would try to get out also.

London calling to the faraway towns
Now that war is declared - and battle come down
London calling to the underworld
Come out of the cupboard, all you boys and girls
London calling, now don't look at us
All that phoney Beatlemania has bitten the dust
London calling, see we ain't got no swing
'Cept for the ring of that truncheon thing

I suppose the "stand at a whiteboard" bit removes the possibility of telecommuting?

I certainly will. It remains to be seen whether any future employer will be as forgiving of my empeg BBS habit, or whether I'll have to restrict myself to posting from home.

Hell yes. My next planned snowboard trip is next Easter, to the Alps, but I'd like to come over to the US at some point.

Roger, we're going to miss you!

Or, more accurately, I hope you can keep in touch via the BBS and such, so that we don't have to miss you!

Are you going to leave the differentpla.net pages up? There is some really useful empeg-related information there that we link to, and I'd hate for that stuff to go away...

Yes. I may need to find somewhere else to host them in the long term, though.

Cool! Oh, and I also wanted to say, congratulations on the cohabitation agreement. She looks like a really nice lady and I'm sure you'll have a great future together.

I can easially toss you into the admin group on riocar.org, and you could mirror the content there. Once the server move is complete, I can also grant you SSH access and such for non web based methods of updating the content. Send me a PM if interested.
