The more I see, the more it reminds me of cricket;
1) Both are bat and ball games.
2) Both use the concept of running for scoring purposes.
3) The distance pitched/bowled is similar.. 20 yds vs 66 ft IIRC.
4) Fast balls are roughly equivalent, 90mph
5) It hurts when you get hit.
6) Both have some arcane rules.
7) A beer gut isn't an impediment to success.
8) Both games take a long time for a single match.
9) Both games use the concept of multiple games in a series or test.
Of course, there are many differences too;
1) Baseball is popular.
2) Baseball players can get rich.
3) Baseball is predominantly about the pitching, cricket about run count.
4) Aside from the wicket keeper, no one in cricket uses gloves to field.
5) There's no 'Silly Point' in baseball.
6) Baseball doesn't really punish bad pitches - they've become an integral part of pitching tactics. a foul ball in cricket always scores a run.
