I just received my mk2, and love it except a few glitches...
I had it installed by local audio guy, who of course hasn't installed one, but has had experience with my boxster...
When driving it home I noticed that when I turn lights on, it doesnt dim, but
instead turns off and then a couple seconds later goes back on...
OK, so that sounded to me like he got headlight wire switched...
Nextly, when I turn ignition on the speakers make small sound, and when I turn unit on it makes thump????
Sound easy anyone????
Thanks Steve Warendorf

My Boxster doesn't do this. You should go back and have the installer check all the wires. You can also read through the Becker CDR220 thread under Installation notes. If you have a factory head unit, it's either the Becker 220 w/CD or a similar Becker model.

On the dimmer, I believe there are two settings for the dimmer level, one for normal display, and one for the headlights on. So turn on the headlights, then go to the dimmer menu and you can adjust the dimmer level. Then turn the headlights off and on, and you should see a difference. Mine was factory set with both settings at 100%.

That MIGHT be relevent here, but it doesn't explain a problem when turning ON the ignition, or when turning on the headlights. The wiring needs to be checked carefully.
