I'm trying to complete my had drive upgrade but my hard (brand new one, just replaced) seems not to be detected as the player gives me the no harddrive found contact support message. i've read te FAQ but to no clear solution based on my knowledge.

the message i get from hypertermnal is the following:

1 have you applied the builder image to the empeg with the new drive in it

2 you putting in an new drive and removing old one or adding a extra drive

3 post the whole output from the empeg from the moment you power it up as before that it tries to find the disc

4 Where are you incase we need to roll out internaional rescue

i'm replacing the disk with a 40 gig.
i tried loading the builder but i'm not sure if it completed because it wouldn't complete the 'finding pump' type message ... basically i don't thjnk it ever shut down and restarted as per the upgrade instructions say it would. however, i have the newest emptool updated..

heres the complete output from the time i turn on the player:

Greetings!

It never located the hard drive. Please check the cable connection and reconnect it if it is loose. Thanks!

hi,
thanks for the hints guys!

no matter what i do with the cable, nothing happens. i've checked the jumpers and they are all good. i guess this means i should be looking or a new cable. where is a good place to find them? or are they only available from support?

thanks,
Marco

For debugging purposes a standard laptop drive cable should do, but it is likely to be of the wrong total length, connector spacing and orientation for proper usage in the empeg.

I think support (Rob) is the sole source of proper cables -- unless someone has a spare they're willing to part with. You could buy wire and connectors and build/press a properly configured cable yourself, but without the proper crimp tool it can be hard...

I will be able to supply these again in the New Year (see the recent post in Announcements).

I have the feeling there's going to be quite a rush at the start of January. Please note that there is a queue of people who have already asked over the last couple of months while I have been having problems: they MUST be served first, and I hope you all understand this. The best advice I can give is to send an email with your order to me at [email protected] so that I have it here in the queue, and you will get a notice from me in due course when I can go active again with trading. Call it a "late" Christmas present, if you like. Well, actually, call it whatever you want - I don't mind, to be honest
