Just for fun...

What is the largest number of songs with the same title on your Empegs? And I mean not counting different recordings of the same song, I mean completely different songs which happen to have the same title.

For me, I think it's "Mother". I've got at least four songs with that title:

- "Mother", Pink Floyd, The Wall, 1979
- "Mother", The Police, Synchronicity, 1983
- "Mother", Tori Amos, Little Earthquakes, 1991
- "Mother", Cyndi Lauper, Sisters of Avalaon, 1996

Hmm. Do songwriters generally have "issues" with their mothers? Ya think?

Let's see what else... I've got two songs named "Cut to the Chase" (Steve Morse and Rush), two songs named "Dreamland" (Steve Morse and The B-52's), and two named "Sacred Ground" (Steve Morse and Craig Chaquico). To be fair to Steve, the Rush song post-dates his song.

Anyone else?

Mine's probably "megamix" - but I don't think that counts:)

I have 3 'Mothers' on mine. Floyd, Tori, and Danzig. Several live incarnations of each makes it even harder to find the one I'm looking for.

But the most overused title on my Empeg is "Dreams":
2 Brothers on the 4th Floor
The Cranberries
Van Halen
Fleetwood Mac
Quench

I guess rock stars are all dreaming about their mommies.

Yes. Even though I add the text "(Live)" to the end of live song titles, sometimes it's not enough. I think I've got more than one live song named "Mother", too.

Most of mine are different versions (mix, remix,Trance,Hex Hector,DJ Amanda, JR Vasquez, etc. of the same song.
Gets maddening when entering ID tags. I hope there will be no problems with them on the Empeg soft.

No, there's no problems with songs that have the same name. The software handles it gracefully.

The only problem is when you do a search, you get multiple results. For example, when I do a "Search by title" on "Mother", it selects all four of them. To me, that's the correct behavior (although others have argued that a "select sub-items in search results" feature is necessary).

Selecting all doesn't bother me. You can skip through the tracks right?

No, the Empeg doesn't have a skip-tracks feature. You didn't know this already?

When I first saw that post, I was very close to posting "Empeg software needs a SKIP TRACKS feature" in the wish list section, but I didnt think anyone would appreciate my sarcasm, with the possible exception of tfabris.

Hmmm... I probably have eight different versions of "Take The 'A' Train". And, they're all spelled slightly differently. Are those single quotes or double quotes. Etc, etc. I don't think I have a single track called "Mother".

The wonder of jazz "standards": every CD I buy tends to have at least one "standard" on it. After a while, they all add up.

Stupid feature request: When you're doing an "advanced" search on titles, it would be nice if the EMPEG collapsed together all these slightly mutant spellings of the same song.

Doesn't count, those are all different performances of the same piece.

Doesn't it already? IIRC: when matching it ignores spaces, ignores a
leading 'The' and ignores qoute marks. Or do they still end up in different
rows in the search result? - haven't noticed...

How it handles our exotic european characters like åäö I'm
not really sure - does it ignore them or do they get mapped to their
'base' character (a for ä, o for ö etc)?

Looks like I've got some playing around to do...

Search should map european characters to their base character - if you find a case of this not working, please let us know!
