I was looking for a audio track that has proved rather difficult to get hold of. I've been looking on all the p2p networks finally found a copy on kazaa. Result, I get about 4k into downloading and suddenly craps out claiming more sources are needed. Bugger... I finally give in and buy a copy on vinyl, even though I haven't owned a deck in years (suppose I could get someone in the radio studios at work to transfer it onto dat). Anyway, as soon as the web page tells me my payment has been accepted kazaa suddenly stirs into life and saturates my adsl line downloading a decent vbr rip from the original cd. I could have saved a fiver...

...and for those of you that frown upon downloading music, I ended up buying the album which I wouldn't have done otherwise.

If you now have a duplicate purchase you can return one (or cancel) under the Distance Selling Regulations.

I was going to say that you must have access to one of the biggest music libraries around...

Vinyl is great! What's wrong with vinyl? I just got into it about a year ago and I already have a collection of about 100 12" and 50 singles. The best thing about it is that the whole collection, aside from a few expensive ones that I had to have, cost me only a little more than the total number I have: about $180 We've got a great local store with thousands of $1 albums.

And yeah, I love the sound. The scratchy sound. It's the greatest way to listen to jazz. And man, when I slap on some Nat King Cole, I get shivers...ahhh.

Damn, now I want to get back to my turntable. My uncle gave me about 30 records for Christmas, including about 15 Nina Simone albums. Can't wait to dig into that...

Nina Simone doesn't need to be on vinyl to give one shivers.

To me, the difference between the warmer sound quality on vinyl against CD's has always puzzled me, possibly because of my failing earsight! But what a tactile item a 12" vinyl is, with plenty of opportunity to be visually creative. And why does the record reissue industry think that print which was perfectly readable in 12x12, is going to be equally legible in 5x5?
I see that the Rolling Stones have re-issued a dozen albums on vinyl, so there must be the demand.
