Is there any place on the internet where you can post a file name, such as XXXX.exe, and find what the file does along with what program uses it?

Often, simply typing the file name into google gives me the results you're looking for. Depends on the file, of course. What file are you looking for information about?

Not sure, I'm asking of behalf of a friend. I gave him the same advice - put it into Google and see what comes up.

That's what I've been doing for the past couple days. There were still suspect files on this computer I was working on, even after Spybot and Ad-Aware had been run. I typed them into Google, found that they were indeed adware, and removed them.
