Hi All,

I applied the V3 Alpha 5 upgrade to my MkIIa player, it worked fine. Tried to add some more files, which failed and left my database a little messed up. I have tried to re-buid the database using all the excellent information on this site.

I have tried numerious hard disk rebuilds, put V2 back, then V3 Alpha 3 and then 5. I have had to revert back to Alpha 3 to get some tunes on my player.

I want to completely clean the harddisk and rebuild it from scratch, but I'm not 100% of what I need to do. So any links / help would be greatfully recieved

Thanks in advance.

V3 Alpha 5 cannot build databases. You _must_ revert to Alpha 3 to put more tunes on your player. This is normal. You cannot add tunes with Alpha 5.

If you REALLY want to nuke your music collection and restart from scratch, look for the "disk builder" .upgrade file.

But in your case, you probably just need to load v2final back on, and do one sync from Emplode (without changing anything).

Cheers

Thanks for the insight. I forgot that Alpha5 couldn't build the database. I managed, after much hair pulling and hours of syncs, rebuilds etc to make it sync under Alpha3.

It seems (at the moment) to be alot happier.

Thanks again

I tried to re-build the harddisk with this build, but it didn't seem to clean the database, which is what I wanted.....but I managed to fix it in the end.

Thanks
