Its slighty annoying but when I try and upload via E-net I get errors if I grab more then a few 100 tracks at a time.

I am running a Fully patched XP pro (firewall and virus scanner are turned off) the Empeg is hooked to a D-link hub.

Works fine (but Slowly) via usb

I have about 62 Gig of files to upload well over 11000 tracks so 100 at a time kind of sucks, any thing I can do to tweek it.

Computer info

3.06P4 Ht
3Gigs of Ram
2.11 TB Raid Array
Gig Copper NicFast Ethernet card (used to connect to Empeg Hub)

Empeg Info

Mk2
Serial # 080000391
2 40Gig toshiba Drives (brand new)
Customer Software 2.00Beta 13

If you press on the Warnings tab, does it give you any more detailed information?

By the way, I don't recommend that you turn off the firewall and virus scanning features of XP if you are connected to the internet. Leave them on and poke the hole for emplode as described in the FAQ here. It's possible that the reason you're getting ethernet errors is because you've been infected by a worm that's clogging your bandwidth. (This is just one of many possibilities, I'm not saying that's likely, I'm just saying that sort of thing can happen when you turn off the firewall and virus scan.)

When I said no firewall I was talking about that built into XP POS I don't trust software firewalls I use a I have a https://www.watchguard.com
Fireboxx 700

and the Empeg is on the trusted side of the network.

I'll upload some more files tonight (I am at lunch now) and I'll post the log and error

Ah, yes, a hardware firewall is much better than the XP POS, I agree.

Does that watchguard firewall have its own built-in hub, and are you using that to connect the empeg? If so, try it on a separate hub as described here and see if that fixes it.

Is there a reason you aren't running 2.0 final? I would upgrade first before going too far down the troubleshooting path.

Well at my wits end, tried to different hubs 2 different cables and 3 different versions of the empeg software I still get the same errors any suggestions ?

it really sucks having to upload 100 file or less at a time

Getting it on USB also now.

Is there any other traffic on your LAN besides the empeg upload?

Can you confirm that you don't get ethernet errors in other situations? For example, transferring gigs of files to another computer?

Also, is the empeg itself being placed anywhere that temperature might be an issue? Like on top of the monitor, or with something covering its vent holes? Did you ever have hard disk trouble on this player?

NO other traffic issues in my logs and I transfer gigs and gigs from one system to the other with no issues, this is a new empeg, purchased here so not sure if it has other issues,

it it on my desk in my cold 60degree computer room.

Do you have a direct crossover cable that you can test? I am wondering - the empeg can only support 10Mbps. If your hub is having trouble stepping down the speed, or performing an autonegotiation for your computer at 100Mbps, this might be part of the problem. Some manufacturers (I don't know about D-link) have a really hard time doing this well...

Try a direct crossover cable, and see what your LAN card and hub ports are set for speed / duplex / negotiation.

It may also be helpful to see the serial output from your player during a sync. Can you hook up a serial cable and use a terminal program to capture the log during a sync (see faq for more details if needed).

Tried the Other connection on the IDE cable Same issue
If it helps after this error (See attached) the player keep spinning the "SYNC LOGO" till I power cycle it and start over.

22 hours for 57 GB? That is probably about right, if I remember correctly. Glad it worked out! Are you able to use USB now?

22 hours for 57GB works out to be about 5.8Mbps or 755KB/s. That's roughly what I get as well.
