What's the current procedure to check an empeg before buying?
Who should I email/PM with the serial number - I PM'ed Rob a while ago but no reply as yet and the seller is asking about the delay...

In a recent thread, Rob stated that he shouldn't be contacted about serial numbers for every third-party purchase. They keep a list of stolen serials in case anyone tries to send one in for service, but he can't pre-verify things for people.

If we ever set up a third party stolen serial number registry, that would be the way to check. Provided people report to it, of course.

That and always ask to see a pic of the player displaying the serial (in the About screen). That way you find out both that the player works and that the serial is correct. Of course, they could still ship you a box with a brick in it... But hey, at least they're half the price they were last year at this time.
