I have four PC's networked through a Linksys router...all but one is running XP, the one is running 98

Only on my PC does this happed: When I restart the PC i am not able to access network connections..neither the internet nor the other 3 PC's. What i have to do is run the network wizzard once again in order to gain access.

Note that this only happens when i need to restart the PC...if i let it hibernate there is no problem.....

any ideas why this would be happening???

Is it using DHCP?

Paul,

You must understand that most of my success in working with techincal machines has come by accident! As such, I haven't the foggiest idea of what DHCP means!!

You may assume I know absolutely nothing on the subject...for I dont!

Okay... No worries. Well, I am wondering if re-running the wizard under 98 is basically reassigning a new random IP address (via DHCP) or forcing the card to select one of the Microsoft addresses (169? range). Either way, as long as the wizard works, it is a configuration setting.

I only have to run the wizzard for my pc using xp..the three other pc's, two xp, one 98, have no troubles at all....

perhaps i should rerun the wizzard on all of them using a disc made from my pc??

It is one of the XP boxes that needs to rerun the wizard? Hmmm... Strange... Is there anything else different about that box?
