Any creative ideas about where to put my new (fantastic!) mpg in this car. I've got the web server working, tetris, etc. and er...nowhere to put it....

Is it possible to switch the climate control panel with the ashtray? Would the empeg fit in front of the gear stick where the ashtray is?

Any creative ideas (possibly from other models) very welcome!

I love this gadget!

Did you ever figure anything out? I'm thinking about getting an X-5....I want to find out how I will mount my Mark II. I guess I will have to order without NAV...

I'm still waiting for the car. It fits great in my 328iC, but I'll just wait for the new car and see what I can do. I'm almost thinking about keeping the old car so I can have one with an empeg!

Sorry about the bad link... Here's a working one...

p.s. You might want to check out www.bimmer.org for the thread on the X-5. Less reliable than this board - lots of flaming and nonsense, but there's the occasional gem.

Wow, that's a tough one. even if you are able to put in in front of the stick, you'll have difficulty reading it that far down.

That's one of the reasons I love my van, all that dash space!

Greetings!

Actually, as long as you have a good angle (and depending on your seat position) in front of the stick is not really that bad. I have mine mounted there, and I can see the entire screen very clearly while driving. Too clearly - I find myself tempted to "tinker" with it too much while driving. Fortunately, I haven't hit any trees yet...

Try to put it over the air-vent and get a custom made "hood".
That's were the newer opel/vauxhalls have their displays.
And I think it's the perfect spot.

That looks good, but if you notice, he's got that extra little overhang that might block the viewing angle.

Greetings!

Good point - I hadn't noticed how sharp that overhang was. Is that radio near the stick double-DIN or DIN+1/2? If so, maybe you could mount it toward the bottom of the opening, putting a spacer above.
