Well,
MLORD successfully fixed my RIO and now I need the above mentioned parts. One of them is the culprit (LAN91C96 SMSC) and the other one broke during diagnostics.

I have looked online and can find the LVX4245 chip but am unable to find the SMSC LAN91C96 Chip.

Does anybody know where to get them?

Try calling the manufacturer SMSC and ask them about retailers or if they could by any chance help you. http://www.smsc.com/corp/contact.html

Or, on the same site, check their list of distributers

NuHorizons stocks them and you can buy them through their shopping cart.

Wow...Great link.

Only problem:
They have 4 items listed when I search for LAN91C96
1.) LAN91C96IQFP
2.) LAN91C96ITQFP
3.) LAN91C96QFP(REVE)
4.) LAN91C96TQFP

Which one do I pick?

You should be able to find the datasheets at SMSC which describe the packaging options. QuadFlatPack is the correct style (QFP), but there are variations on overall size. This chip is 100pins, so TQFP100 would be one possibility at 14.0mm square (the plastic part) -- measure your chip to see if it matches that dimension.

Dunno what the "I" means.

EDIT: Okay, you don't want the TQFP -- that's the ultra-low profile packaging (1mm height). So regular QFP is what is needed.

The "i" appears to be a different/newer revision of the chip -- the non "i" version doesn't seem to be made anymore.

I'd get the LAN91C96QFP model.

The "Rev.E" version is likely the right one, since the photo I have of your chip shows the second line beginning with "E".

Ok,
Similar question about LVX4245

If you go to the following page, there is 6 choices. I don't know which one to pick?

http://www.fairchildsemi.com/pf/74%2F74LVX4245.html

I ordered 2 of those Ethernet Chips since the minimum order was $25.00 and ordered the ones you suggested.

Well, there are really only three choices -- each with two versions of wrapping (either is fine).

So, since they're so cheap, just order 2 of each of the non-X ones, and use the one that physically matches what is being replaced. Most likely TSSOP, but I really don't know all of those variations.

Cheers

Note: DigiKey.com very likely has/sells all parts like these, and they are very cheap and easy to deal with for small quantities.

Cheers

Well, I did a search on LVX4245 on DigiKey and it came up with some stuff but only this one was In Stock. I don't know if it is the right thing though?

http://www.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail?Ref=182513&Row=295562&Site=US

I also did a search on LAN91C96 and nothing came up. But I already ordered it from Nu-Horizons.
