Well, just sold my Impreza sport, and I pick up my MY00 Impreza Turbo on Tuesday. Unfortunately it comes with aircon, which is such a waste of space/weight/power/money in this country, but it is immaculate. Sad to see the old one go, but it's off to a good home...and turbos are more tweakable!
Took me three hours to remove the empeg, amp and other gubbins and put the old cd player back in. The upside is I now understand how to remove the dash, seats, trim etc on an Impreza, which means the install in the new one will be easy. I'll probably take some pics to post in the installs section.

Aircon is great for keeping the windscreen clear in the winter - especially if your car leaks like a sieve! I had to scrape ice off the inside of my windscreen a few times this winter! Hopefully I'll soon add something to my fleet that is a little more practical (and doesn't cost 17p a mile in fuel!

Are you sure? With memories of how damn hot last summer was, I specifically bought my car with aircon. Maybe it wasn't so bad in Scotland.
And, yeah, it's good for demisting the windscreen, although the heated windscreen helps.

If you want to enter the fun world of track days this lot http://www.sidc.co.uk/article/default.asp?art_id=141 do track days at knockhill and i can't reccomend them enough very high standard of driving so your pride and joy will be safe. just watch out for the scottish elise lot and some caterham 7's that also go there and have great fun.
If i see there i'll give you a run in the 7 if not there i am sure some of the elise crowd will.

Ooh track days, I remember seeing photos of some poor blokes 172 Cup after it'd rolled at a track day. It was only a week old.

Track rule o' thumb: never drive your daily driver at more than 70% of your maximum capability (not the car's, which is greater than yours!).

Have been up for a few of the Knockhill days with my brother - he has a P1 and a TVR Chimaera. The Lotus guys do always seem friendly - if a little mad (they tend to get closer to the edge than everyone else)
Would be good to be taken for a spin in the 7 - I had a good go in one ad Bedford autodrome, and although I'm nearly there, I haven't quite got the hang of being gentle enough with the power after the apex. Much spinning was done

But how about if you drive at 85% normally - on the road?

Where's the fun in going to the Pod? There aren't any corners.
Remember, forwards is fastest, but sideways is more fun

Except when there's a police car coming round the corner. As a friend of my brother found out.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!
Just popped down to Berwick and back this morning (was going for a meeting with a client in Newcastle, got phoned at Berwick and told it was changed to Manchester due to some BT wiring having a small fire and so therefore there was no way I would make it in time)
Went in my new car. Now I have a grin from ear to ear! That was the second most fun thing I have done in ages. Oh my god - the acceleration is awesome. Admittedly I couldn't go that fast, the A1 and A68 being fairly minor roads, full of traffic, but the ability to overtake in this thing is impressive.
And I do love the noise of the turbo - a gentle whistle above the pretty quiet engine. My sport was much louder. In fact, with the sunroof open I couldn't hear any engine noise at all. Won't get time to put in the empeg and amp until the weekend, and the stock head is a bit crappy, so all I have for the next few days is Radio 1 and Forth FM. But I'm not upset, because Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

Just checking with SWMBO, but I've pencilled in the 29th of May. Will speak to my bro (P1 with empeg) and my mate Ross (WRX, empeg-less, but I'm trying to persuade him) about it too.

Then I'd refer to you the George Carlin routine, wherein he says that by definition, slower drivers than you are morons, and faster drivers than you are *maniacs*.
Of course, percentages are all relative.....

Got everything installed on Monday between sleet and hail showers, but will need to reopen the car up as I'm getting a wee bit of alternator whine, which wasn't there in my old Impreza, and for some reason the headlight sense doesn't appear to work, so no dimming. I think the Illumination is on pin one of the Subaru plug for the stereo, but I'll need to go and check.
I've had a good look through previous threads but found no definitive cure for alternator whine, so I'll try:
rerouting the empeg-amp cables
using a different ground - currently bolted under the driver's seat next to the amp
Any other ideas gratefully received.
