I forgot to mention that when my unit came back from having its display board replaced, it also had the new handle on it! The new coating is somewhat rougher in texture than the previous handle. It is also slightly darker in color than the rest of the unit. Though the differences in color and texture between the handle and the plastic faceplate is subtle enough that few will be bothered by it. The daily white residue problem is gone and I have yet to see any scratches appear on it.

There is nothing specifically wrong with my empeg, but I wonder if I sent mine back regarding the handle and the volume knob (spins freely, does nothing) if those would be corrected.

Do they have an improved volume knob design now?

Also, my dock connector is loose, despite the screws being tight.

If you did, I bet you would end up paying the 100 dollars shipping. Rob will be shipping out new handles and volume knobs to everyone when they are ready. The volume knob has been redesigned. The dock connector is supposed to have some play in it-that allows it to easily fit in the connector in the dock.
