I feel so vindicated!

'Built This City' tops worst songs list.

Hey... I like that song. I like "We didn't start the fire" too.

I'm sure the people on VH1 saying they suck now were the ones buying then they were popular.

I have to agree with most of the songs in the article (and I could probably add a few - does "How Bizarre?" come to mind), but I've always been partial to "Built This City" for some reason.

Hell, who snitched the "most played" playlist off of my Karma - that's illegal isn't it?

VH1 has gone so downhill in the last few years. Seems they're continuing their trend of being about 6 to 10 years behind MTV. Heck, even their lists have gone from "100 Greatest Songs of Rock and Roll" to "100 Hottest Hotties" and "100 Most Outrageous Celebrity Moments" (they must have gotten that title from Fox).

Even when they were good lists, they didn't always have the greatest results. "Stairway to Heaven" is #3 on the Greatest Rock & Roll Songs list, and Led Zeppelin is #3 on Greatest Rock & Roll Artists, and #1 on Hard Rock Artists, yet "IV" isn't even on the Greatest Albums of Rock & Roll. There are other examples, but I wanted to get that one off my chest

So is your complaint that IV should be on the greatest albums list or that the others shouldn't be on their lists?

Generally, I dislike magazines and TV stations compiling "best" and "worst" lists. Everyone has their own tastes, and the purpose of such lists is merely to stir debate and get people talking. The lists themselves are meaningless.

But I have to agree that "Built this city" is a terrible, terrible song on several levels.

Just that there's an odd discrepancy there. Plus, hey, it's IV! Are they saying that Madonna's "Like a Prayer" is better than IV? But if I had to choose, it would be that IV was on the list and maybe one of the three other Zep albums wasn't.

Oooo, I found the best list of all.

Aaah, I remember it well...

A lovely winter night at the RPI fieldhouse for the killer double header: Night Ranger opening for Starship.

After a little Sister Christian & Rock in America, Starship opens with We Built this City. Sadly, they also chose to _close_ with We Built this City. The lameness was truely staggering. I don't think I've witnessed anything approaching the lame level of Starship in all the years since.

Grace, how you fell. Truly amazing. Now off to Lather and wash off with some White Rabbit.
