I've assembled the pcats tuner module I got and it doesn't work.

The empeg sees it, allows me to tune stations, and the antenna signal strengh bar goes up and down, but I get nothing but a hum from the audio.

Anyone have any ideas? I checked the solder joints and connections, everything looks okay to me.

First thing to check is the harness wiring. There were some threads around here earlier about some harnesses having a couple of wires reversed or something -- try a BBS search, and perhaps someone with a memory will post a link here for ya.

Next thing to check is the antenna connection. This is usually the culprit, since it is quite tricky to solder it correctly without shorting it to ground. Take a very close look at it, and check for non-zero resistance between the antenna wire and surrounding coaxial ground shield.

Ignore the "signal strength" on the player -- it almost always reports near-max reception, even when just listening to static.
