Well I have been playing with the idea of making a small batch of fascias ( with approval 1st ). I know others are in the midst of doing the same thing but I just want to make a small batch of them.

I work for a casting company so if I could get my hands on a newface, even the volume knob then that would simplify the job big time.

Otherwise it will take awhile. And I only have the stock fascia to work with

If anyone would be nice enough to lend one out that would be great. I will make it worth your while. Something like a free fascia for helping me out.

Have you seen the threads in Projects? They are about buttons instead of Fascias. But have you considered doing any casting? Being in the business, and having an empeg of your own can be a big help! If not, have any advice for us?

Well I'm in the Aluminum casting business. I work in the Office of the business but do have the knowledge of the casting process.

I've talked with a Foreman and he is working with the stock fascia to start with. Haven't even thought about buttons yet but I'm sure we could make some. Starting with the stock fascia first then going from there.

I don't mind the stock fascia but I do like 303's too. It would be nice if someone could lend one out for me to work with. If not I will have to spend much more time on this and either just go with the basic stock look or come up with something on my own ( your input welcome here ).

Hopefully this all works out as planned and we can get our empegs customized. Its truly the best electronic gadget I've ever bought.

I'd love to see this one done with some fluorescent end glow acrylic inserts for the buttons.

Since you're casting aluminum, definitely look into doing a new handle to go with the new fascia. The current handle is notched in spots to match the current fascia design, and doesn't look quite right when put up against a differently-styled fascia.

I second that about the handle. And maybe remaking some stock handles for the people who've broken theirs or want to keep a spare. Do you do black powder coat (or whatever that is?).

Also, can anyone put ctcsoft intouch with 303 to make sure that it's ok to duplicate his design? Or wait, didn't 303 sell or hand-off his designs to someone else on the BBS? I forget and don't have enough time to search right now.

ctcsoft: There are more than a few threads about redoing the empeg fascia. Run a search and you'll surely find them. Lots of input from the community about features that they'd like.

One thing to consider is possibly keeping your new fascia compatible with existing lenses (and buttons, if we get our illuminated ones created). Are the Filener basic lenses totally flat with no oval section cut into them? If so, that'd be nice to reuse them on a new fascia!

Both - there are flat lenses as well as lenses with raised areas fitting the original empeg fascia (but as an added layer instead of material milled away from a thicker stock).

I plan on looking into handles but would like to get the fascias done first. Also not sure how many people would actually want to purchase a new handle. Won't hurt to make a few though.
