I hope for some help with my issue regarding the set-up of TRio!

I currently use Audio receiver Manager 1.04. I downloaded TRio, followed instructions, but when I start ARM, I don't notice any changes.

I have JAVA version 4.2_02 installed. Does it work with this version?

I followed installation instructions on both the TRio download page and this forum but with no luck!

Please help!

Thanks.

KC,

Did you remember to put receiver.arf (from the riot-0.1.4.alpha5 file) into your c:\Program Files\Audio Receiver directory?

It should work fine with your java version.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply.

Here's what I did so far.

I downloaded the riot file, changed the name of my current receiver.arf file to receiver.orig.arf, then downloaded riot file, unzipped, and it is now my receiver.arf file.

Downloaded Trio file, created folder in C: titled trio-0.1.4.alpha5. Edited Trio XML file and Bin file.

When I run the Trio.bin file, it opens a DOS box for a moment, then closes, and nothing happens. (All I'm doing to run Trio.bin is clicking on it). Then I open Audio Manager with my receiver on and the program starts up as usual. Nothing really changes.

Any ideas?

Have you edited the "set JAVA_HOME" part of trio.bat correctly? If it cannot find the JRE stuff it just closes the DOS box.

I generally have ARM server running first as its this that normally dishes out the ip addresses and loads TRIO into the rio. The rio should displaY the Trio splash screen and the message 'searching for trio server. Once that is all done, proceed to start the trio.bat file.

The trio.bat file has a couple of 'set' statements for the TRIO_HOME and JAVA_HOME, make sure they match your system.

open a dos window and go to the directory with trio.bat so that when you run it, you can easily see the errors.

You guys are both right. I changed the Java setting to match. It was incorrect. I am still having another issue though. Now when I run ARM, then turn on my receiver, I get the Trio screen with message "Finding Server". Then, I run trio.bat file and DOS comes up and runs and says it has connected to the receiver. When I do a search for music on the receiver it lists an error "Unable to connect to ARM server. Please insure this is running correctly configured. Cause: Connect refused: connect" The receiver stays on this screen and will not play. At this point in the DOS box, theres quite a few lines at start java.net and mixed in, it says error: java.net.connectException: Connection refused.

Any ideas? Please help.

Thanks.

When you run trio.bat and it says that it has connected, what do you then see on the Rio screen?

Have you imported music into ARM via the "Tools>Import Music" option on the ARM application?

Don't dismay. It's likely to be something simple and the end product is well worth the wait.

If it weren't for people like you offering support, I would've given up by now. Thanks again for the help. I can't wait to get it running.

As I run trio.bat, initially the receiver shows the Trio logo along with a message "Finding server" or "searching for server". As the the trio.bat is running the receiver then seems to find the connection and goes to the screen that shows -:-- (similar to the initial menu of the original software). I can then pull up the menu which reads Queue, Artist, Song, Playlist, Settings, Clock, etc... (keep in mind, I'm now writing this from memory since I'm at work) When I try to choose anything, it gives me the error i mentioned in my last post. I don't believe i imported music into ARM, assuming the music that I previously imported would still be there. I have been running ARM daily already.

Hopefully that info helps. If not, i can give more detailed info when I get home tonight around 6 Central time.

Thanks again for the tips.

It would be useful to get the exact info.
When you get home:
Open ARM
Power on a receiver
Run trio.bat

What happens on the Rio display?
What happens in the tRio log?
What happens in the Java console?

Make sure you edited the trio.xml file to point to the music server correctly. I believe it defaults to ARM but am not sure. If you've gotten this far, it seems like an error in your music server section

the editing in the trio.xml file is part of the installation instructions, right?

Yes it is part of the install instructions, but definitely worth checking that it is correct

Alright. Now it's actually not even giving me the Trio screen on the receiver any longer.

I turn on ARM, then turn on receiver (which goes to original ARM menu, not TRIO boot screen), then open trio.bat file. As the DOS window opens, it scrolls for a moment, then stops with the line "http server listening on port 8090". The DOS box remains open. The screen on the receiver remains the original menu from the ARM software.

Hopefully you can help me with this error. I'm dying to get this thing running now.

Okay, I'm back to the same point I was yesterday with the screen coming up.

Here's what happens when i run it-

1st - I start ARM. The ARM icon on the computer is red at this point.
2nd - I turn on the Receiver. The Trio screen pops up and it reads "Finding Trio Server". This message will not change until I open up trio.bat.
3rd - I open trio.bat. When this happens the DOS windows opens and scrolls. It stops after reading connection accepted by receiver. Once the scrolling stops, I then check the receiver. A screen pops up that has a square at the bottom left and says "queue" under it. Next to the square it says Received 1 in very small print. To the right and a bit underneath it reads --:-- . When I hit the menu button on the remote, a menu pops up with options including Artist, Song, Playlist, Settings, Clock, etc... When I choose any of the music options (song, playlist, etc) it reads in large letters at the top of the screen "Server Error" then below is smaller letters "Unable to connect to Audio Receiver Manager server. Please ensure this is running and correctly configured. Cause: connection refused. Connect" No music is listed.

After that, I check the DOS box on the computer which reads what I printed below. The entire time, the ARM icon on the computer remains red, instead of blue.

Below I've copied the info that remains in the DOS box. When you asked earlier what happens in the Trio log and Java console, I'm not sure what those are, but I'm assuming I gave you enough info. Let me know if there's anything else you might need. Once again, thanks for all the help!

This dont look right:

<TRioUnitControlThread (/172.16.xxxx): Rio has accepted <connection. Interface: / 172.16.xxxx
sending Query query: http://67.65.154.xxx:12078/query?artist=

This is indicating that the reciever is 172.16.xxxx? but the server is on 67.65.154.xxx?

First rule, keep it simple. The ARM dishes out the ip addresses, make sure you have no other DHCP server active, if using a static address for the Server PC with ARM/TRIO on it (67.65.154.xxx) then set the ARM server to allocated ip addresses in this range as well. SAre the MP3's also on the same PC as the Server?

I must warn you. I'm not a real technical wizard, so your message is going over my head.

The only thing I can tell you is that I have all the music files on a computer in my office while the RIO receiver is in the living room. The receiver had been working while I was using the original ARM software, but as I try to use this new software, it's not. Obviously, there's two IP addresses, one for the computer, one for the receiver. I have DSL with the RIO running through the phone lines.

Does that help at all?

KC,

Your problem looks to be the URL setting you entered in the following line in trio.xml:

<server name="arm" title="Audio Receiver Manager" descr="..." class="..." url="http://67.65.154.xxx:12078"/>

What we need to do is figure out what the correct setting is for you. As 67.65.154.xxx isn't working, we need to try your computer's other ip address. To find out what this is, open a dos or command prompt (on the machine where ARM is running) and type "ipconfig". The "IP Address" entries in the results will tell you.

Cheers
Paul

Paul,

You were right, that was the problem! I checked the IP address, made the changes, now the music is showing up on the receiver. It's still not working properly though. I have about 800 playlists I use through musicmatch, so I chose one. As you choose an individual playlist, the song list comes up, but when you click enter on the remote to play them, nothing happens. An hourglass pops up on the receiver screen for a fraction of a second and nothing. The song list remains on the screen but no music will play.

Any ideas?

Got it now! I realized I probably need to read up on how to use this program now that it's working. As I was selecting music it was adding it to the queue. It's a bit different set-up than the other program, but a very cool feature.

Thanks again for all the help getting Trio going. Can't wait to use it!
