Hello

Just want to hear if anybody has tried to add SPDIF (digital output) to the Rio Reciever ? I have just bought a DVD/amplifier in a box with a build in digital amplifier which doesn't like the output from the Rio reciever. The output from the reciver is rather high so it saturates the analog input of the amplifier. Instead of putting som kind of attenuation into the Rio reciever i am considering puting in a SPDIF output. I am planing to connect the circuit directly to the DAC in the reciever. Just want to hear if anybody has been doing something simelar.

A search of the BBS provides the relevant thread in the results. The trick is settting the right parameters for the search and spelling s/pdif correctly.

Well, I did a search before posting, but you are wright the spelling was not totally correct. Now that I have looked through the old post about this issue, it looks that nobody has succeded in doing that in a decent way.
My approach is similar to the crystal 84xx approach except that i intend to use DIT4096 from TI.

Look at the schematics in:
http://dvb-upload.com/index.php?action=download&pid=2223
it's a circuit to add S/PDIF out to a Sat/TV Decoder.
In few words the digital signal is obtain from the
Crystal D/A converter's pins through a DIT4096 (96Khz Digital Audio Transmitter).
I don't know if it's easy to find the corresponding D/A converter in RIO models.
Hope this helps you.
