Hi all !

I've recently bought a webcam for both me and my girlfriend. Now I'm looking for some free video conferencing software which has good high quality real-time video.
We're currently using MSN, but we're not that impressed with the quality of the picture. The picture also stutters a lot, even though the camera is capable of doing 30fps and our internet connection is too. I'm pretty sure MSN is to blame for this and I'm also pretty sure there's software out there that can do a better job at this.

This software doesn't have to be able to do true videoconferencing with a lot of persons connected. A basic video connection between two computers is more than sufficient.

Does anybody know of such software?

Thanks!

most of the time it's not the camera, but the encoding.. I personaly used gnome meeting (H.323 based) to video conference with my gf while she was in finland for a month.

thanks, I'll give that a go. Other suggestions are still welcome! I'll try a few of those programs and stick to the one I like best.

Thanks!

Edit : I forgot to mention that I use XP. This Gnomemeeting is meant to be used with Linux ? At least I can't find a windows installer on that site.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea. AIM isn't used as a IM client at all over here (only MSN and ICQ) and Macs aren't that common either. I've checked the Apple website and it seems that its only available for Mac. A shame, it doesn't look half bad.

The built-in webcam feature of Yahoo Instant Messenger is supposedly pretty good. Dunno if it supports audio or if it's just video, I don't recall. I deinstalled YIM a long time ago and just use Trillian now, and its webcam support isn't as good as native Yahoo, so I can't check.
