I'm trying to upload all my music to my riocar using emplode 2.0 with ethernet. It seems to be taking 5-10 seconds per song to upload not including the database stuff. Is there any way to make it go faster?

use USB.
your speed is about right, considering the ethernet is not 10/100. you should be seeing about 1 megabyte per second transfer speed

USB doesn't seem to be much faster. What's the biggest chunk of mp3s I should upload at a time? Also, what does the "position" mean under playlists in emplode?

That's the order they'll show up in, if you disable the automatic sorting. It's also the order in which they'll play if a whole playlist is selected (assuming that shuffle is off, of course).

Check out this FAQ on ordering. It explains about the Position field.

Actually, on the empeg-car, the USB 1.0 connection should be slower than ethernet.

If I recall correctly, the 10mbps ethernet should be getting you around 5-700k bytes per second, so 5-10 seconds per song sounds about right.

That one is here.

Install HiJack on your player then use Jemplode to upload your files. You'll need to make sure that "Use HiJack When Possible" is selected in the Jemplode options.

This allows for faster file transfers because it's using FTP rather than the emplode protocol IIRC.

Yep... I just reloaded ALL of my music (30G worth) using JEMPLODE. I loaded significantly faster than EMPLODE (plus you get the benefit of RIDs, so you wont get duplicates loaded in the future). It's defintely the way to go: There's step by step FAQ entries on how to install Hijack and Jemplode (see the links at the top). Although, I would love 100MB Ethernet, or USB2 capability.

That's very odd. If emplode finds it, Jemplode should find it exactly the same way. Did you exit emplode before running Jemplode?

What version of the Java virtual machine are you running, and what version of Jemplode?

And that's not fast enough for you?

How many million tracks are you uploading?

I'm not sure if jEmplode v2.01 supported Empeg fast connections or Hijack FTP uploads ... I'm guessing not. It makes a huge difference.

Where did you get that? That's way old. Shouldn't be available anywhere any more.

Please get a proper jemplode from the link at the top of this page and try again.

And by "proper", Tony means "probably broken" at the moment, but even broken, the new builds are better than 2.01. I'm keeping old versions around from here on out though. Probably should have done that BEFORE the huge breaking changes rather than after, but oh well.

Thanks, I don't know why I had that old version. After using the new version of jemplode it searched for a new version of hijack and I let it install it. Now sometimes when I get back in my truck the player comes on, sometimes I have to turn it on manually. I always leave it on when I get out.

Severl other of us are also having that problem. Maybe it is a hijack thing. I'll try uninstalling it later.
