Is it possible for a track to be bad (ie...freeze the player) in the 3.0 alphas, but not in the 2.0 series? If so, I have a sample of one if someone at rio wants it. If not, I'll need to further stress test my memory upgrade to see if that's what crashed the player (although I replayed to track and it froze at the same spot a second time).

We think so. Some tracks appear to crash the decoder, usually at the end of the track. Possibly related to crossfading.

This one is wierd...crashes about a minute into the track. Oh well, I've gotten about 6 hours of play out of the unit other than that without problems, so I'll assume it was just that track.

Yeah, I've gotten that (crashes in the middle of a track) with alpha 8 a few times. Stack dumps on my (not memory upgraded) player imply that its running out of memory. Alpha 7 would sometimes crash at or near the beginning of the track, but 8 seems to be less deterministic.

Thanks for the reassurance. After running it on down->down->down for about 12 hours after that without incident, I'm reasonably sure everything is working well.

The only other wierdness I'm experiencing is that my Mk2 with 32 meg isn't resuming visuals on bootup (3.0 Alpha 8) even though I've set it in Hijack. Wierd. I'll fiddle with it some more.

Make sure you've gone through all the troubleshooting steps listed here, in case you haven't already.
