My guess is that the player application is crashing and restarting - possibly due to a corrupt music file or database. First, (assuming you have a developer kernel installed) quit to the command prompt. Then run the player application with "player -i" to clear the current playlist. That might fix your problem. If not, there is more that can be tried, starting with rebuilding the databases manually...

And if you don't have the developer version of version 2.00final, install it!

I did a little editing to the original message. There are now links to the FAQ entries for these topics. Follow this one first. It is written in a way that is fairly easy to understand, but if you have questions post them.

i have tried to prompt Hyperterminal, and nothing. The COM port is turned on. And when i try to make sure and upgrade the developer version bc i am not sure its installed, upon bootup, its not recognized, and the screen still bounces back and forth to "Loading Music Databases" to "Loading Playlist". whats wrong?

You *must* fix things so that hyperterminal works. If you don't, then nothing else is going to work and we can't help you any further.

It could be something as simple as a bad cable. So please go through every troubleshooting step carefully to get hyperterminal working. Then get back to us.
