Anybody leave their Mk2 in the car for awhile say 4-8 hours and when you start it no standby light and no startup of unit and nothing when all buttons are pushed?
I found if I pull out the Empeg and reinsert it it starts up just fine, it's as if it powered down completely and won't wake up. This is has happened twice now and am curious since it's been cold here whether some sort of thermal shutdown has occurred or if there's a certain sequence of buttons to press to wake the Mk2 up?
What's the thoughts.
I haven't ruled out a power short anywhere yet, that could cool down enough to break the connection but also haven't noticed any drop outs of power during driving on rough roads.

I'm no expert, but this used to happen to me regardless of temperature or time the unit was off. My car was sending a negative spike through the 12V line when the ignition was shut which was causing the empeg to shut down completely when the ignition was shut (no 30 sec. standby). Sometimes when I shut the car with the empeg in the docking cage, when I restarted the car, I would have to pull the empeg in and out to get it to turn on.

Since I installed the diode cable that Empeg sent, I am able to shut the car with the empeg docked and I haven't had to pull the empeg in and out to start it.

I read the posts about the diode but didn't think it applied in my case but I bet your right I'll have to try it. Thanks.

If i remember right, the empeg will go into full power-off mode after several min.. this is a setting somewhere.. I don't remember where.. that's normal as far as I know.

I've never heard of that being as an option, I believe it's the ignition as well, it only does it sporadicly and the vehicle is not that new, could be the looseness of the ignition playing tricks.

I've never heard of that being as an option,

Look in Emplode: File/Configure Player/Shutdown and you can choose the amount of time the player remains in standby before total shutdown. The change will become effective the next time you synchronize.

I don't have that option in my Emplode just 'open empeg-car database' are you running a developer version or somethingelse?

The "Configure Player" option does not appear in the file menu until after you have connected to an Empeg. Almost all of the menu options are hidden until you've connected to a player.

Interesting point for the Empeg guys: What about graying those menu items instead of hiding them? I think that makes for a better user interface.

OK I see it now however I still believe it must be the negative spike for no matter what button I push or turn it doesn't come alive. I have to pull it out and reinsert the player before it wakes up. Is there a certain way you have to wake it up?
