So i have a riocar (mk2a) that originally had just a 10gb drive. I added an IBM 30gb and it worked fine for over a year. About a month ago, the clicks and pops started. It was only when the car was on, generally when it was cold, and during acceleration. There was no correlation between vibration and clicks/pops. About a week later, the 30gb drive failed, I sent it back for warranty, and re-installed the player with just the 10gb drive. I had no clicks or pops, everything seemed just fine. I was rather contented actually. I got a new drive from the manufacturer, plugged it in, ran disk builder, etc etc etc... got it all up and running again, threw it in my car and the clicks / pops are even WORSE than before!

Any ideas? Bad power supply? Overload? bad cable?

For what its worth i have the digital-out modification... I have an upgraded alternator in my truck... and i'm using some pretty hefty audio equipment (www.usamps.com) among other things.

Bad IDE cable or header. You might also occassionally see the No Hard Disk Found error.

re-crimped the cable, it seems ok for now... thanks!
