I'm going to be in Tahoe on the 27th / 28th November and was wondering if anyone else might be up there and might want to meet up for a snowboard/food/beer?
Praying for snow....!

For sure. I've been itching to get up there this season, was hoping we'd get some precip in the next few days to improve the conditions up there a bit before I went, but honestly any excuse will get me up there at this point.
My only concern is that thanksgiving weekend is gonna be hella crowded up there. Ah well, I'll brave the crowds anyway.

Yeah, not the ideal weekend for lines! I need to be at Rio the week after, so the opportunity presented itself... seems Boreal has the best snow in the area (or the most zealous snowmaking) so there may be a little searching to find the good stuff. Heavenly opens tomorrow but by all accounts is a little bare at the moment.
I'm actually going to be on holiday in Telluride, CO from the 4th to the 12th December (a friend just bought a house there) so that's also an option for another minimeet if anyone fancies it!

Ah man, off by a week on both counts. I'd see you in CO if it was a week earlier and in Tahoe if it was a week later! I just drove through Colorado and stopped off in Vail, and man are they lacking in snow. There's only one or two resorts open with tiny runs. Driving by one was hilarious. There were SO many people coming down the only run that it looked like swarming ants.

From what I can see, there's no snow anywhere and no forecast for any either... looks like it might just be a casino visit, then Hugo

Snow wise, the central part of CO did get hit a few times already, but sadly no ski resorts were close by to benefit from it. However, Pikes Peak does look nice now with the snow up there. It's a shame skiing down it was stopped in the 70s.

Well, going down it is probably dangerous with all those people trying to drive *up* it Is it the same Pikes Peak? Hugo

Oh yeah.
Fortunately, the seasons for rallying and the seasons for skiing are opposite.

I think when they ran the ski resort, you had to use the cog railway to get up, as the road up is very dangerout with any amount of snow on it.
Oh, and good news, we had snow this past weekend again, and the weather map showed it over Telluride as well. We do have more snow in the forecast in the local area later this week, so it might actually turn out decently.
Where are you flying in here in Colorado?

Flying into Montrose on the 4th, pretty late (21:33 ISTR), then getting a bus to Telluride. Whereabouts are you in Colorado? I saw the reports of 17" of fresh snow over the weekend - so, the next 10 days needs to have maybe another couple of feet, plus maybe three or four inches every night & blue skies every day. Any idea what website I can order this up from? Hugo

This one I'd think, but I can't find the shopping cart button.

This site has local details where the weather is kinda nasty right now, but at least it is open, other exotic locations... Perhaps you cold find that elusive Checkout button somewhere on that site...

If you and Drakino have the chance to make it into Denver at any point, the first round of Guiness is on me.

I'm in Colorado Springs, about 60 miles south of Denver. Telluride is about a 300 mile drive away, so not sure if I can easially make it down there.

I'll be there for the 3 hour wait before the Montrose flight goes out, but I suspect I'll just be near-comatose in the departure lounge... Hugo

Hm. Now the weather report says we might actually get snow on Saturday. Dunno if it'll be enough or if it'll happen in time, but hey, we can hope.
Just goes to show you can't rely on those weather people. They always say one thing and do another. Such flakes. Wish they'd quit changing their mind all the time.

I found the order button - they promised 2-day air (so it should have arrived on Friday) but hey, I can believe it's arriving late Hugo

Looks like your order came in on time. Boreal is reporting that they've got decent conditions through the weekend with a lot of lifts operating. I plan to be there early if I can, try to beat some of the crowd. The lifts open at 9am, so I will try to be there before then if I can be, since I have to rent equipment. Usually takes me 1 hour to drive there, I'll leave at 7am just in case I need chains or there's traffic.

A good time was had by all. The weather was interesting. Snowed like crazy all morning up until noon, and then someone threw a switch and the sun came out for a glorious clear afternoon on the slopes. Fortunately, the morning storm scared the bulk of the crowds away and it's wasn't intolerably busy. I'm typing this now because I know I'll be incapable of moving a muscle tomorrow. The first snowboarding day of the season is always the hardest on you. I got their earlier than Hugo (and his friend Kevin, former Rio marketing guy), so ended up leaving at about five or so while they were still doing runs. The park doesn't close until 9pm, so for all I know they could be still up there. Hope they did, because I noticed as I was leaving that there was a full moon rising. Would have looked magnificent from the top of the mountain.

We chickened out a bit earlier than 9, it started getting *REALLY* cold with the sun down. On the sunday we got to Kirkwood which was great apart from at the top, where the extreme wind had basically just left ice on the section above the trees - still, pretty good and nothing broken Now for Telluride!
