After about 10 years of not being involved in TV repairs I'm all of a sudden asked to repair a Philips 24PW6006 set! From a bit of surfing I believe it's based upon the A10 chassis but I could well be wrong on that.

The set made a "pop" and gave off a burning smell about 30mins after turn-on and went dead. I'm told that the chopper transistor in the PSU (definitely not the line output transistor) is physically damaged and also a diode (SMD component) in the vacinity of the PSU is also charred.

After a bit of reading on the web I discovered that the A10 chassis is plagued with unreliability problems so, with any luck, its fault mechanisms should be well understood.

- Is the 24PW6006 really an A10 chassis?
- Does anyone here have a schematic of the PSU they can share?
- ISTR from past experiences that a lot of Philips' sets faults can be cured with repair kits; does this fault meet the criteria for lobbing in a kit of some sort? If so, what kit?
