Whenever i turn on my empeg, it always says "End of Playlist", it use to go back to the last song it was playing before. I connected the Serial cable to see if something was going on with the hdd's and i see this at the end:

I would suspect a corrupted filesystem here: do a quick FAQ for what to do.

Thanks for the replys but it's weird when I Run the e2fsck Fix from the FAQ. this is what I get:

No, that's normal because of the nonstandard way the empeg's Linux installation is.

While you my have a corrupted filesystem, I believe that the I/O errors are hardware errors and need to be corrected themselves. Could be the IDE header, the cable, or the hard drive. There's a FAQ on what to look for.

The error is on /dev/hda3, not the one(s) you ran fsck on.

/dev/hda3 is where the player software saves a lot of settings, including the current running order (playlist) and per-track settings and stuff.

There is no fsck for /dev/hda3, but you could instead simply wipe it clean and hope that fixes the error.

Connect via serial port, hit control^C to break out of the player and get a shell (command) prompt. Then do this to wipe out /dev/hda3:

cat /dev/zero > /dev/hda3

That's just a useless "warning", not an error.

an It just says that a certain time or number of mount operations has elapsed since last file systemcheck (fsck) was run on the partition. d can, IIRC, be turned off with Hijack. No worries, if something potentially truly bad happens (like forgetting to remount as read-only after having something mounted read-write) it wll stilll notice and complain. A synch will take care of the mattter, but it wlil ltake longer (with big drives potentially loooong) time as it wll then do an fsck at that time. Which is annoying as Murphy assures it will be the time whenyou just wanted to toss on a few new tracks or a few tag updates and be on your way...

i am having the same error as michael_corleone.

it turns out to be a hdd problem...bad sector. running hitachi DFT and erasing the disk. i hope it works.
