My MK1 Empeg Player was stolen, then recovered by the police! Which is the good news.

Unfortunately the serial connector was ripped off and I need to know how to wire it back up. Can anyone help me out with a wiring diagram?

Do you mean the connector on the unit, or the harness on the sled?

...and by the way, astonishingly good luck in getting your player back. You have to be the first person I can recall who has reported a recovery

Yeah, bloody lucky. The guys that took it are in Jail now!

It is the connector on the sled that I need to fix.

Congrats on getting it back! Assuming it's the serial connector on the wiring harness: the harness for the MkII(a) is documented in this FAQ.. The second picture link there is probably what you want.

Thanks for the link mtempsch, unfortunately that diagram has extra wires than the socket that I have.

The connections were made to pins 2,3,4,5 and 7 as in the attached picture and I can't seem to find an appropriate diagram.

See attached (Fuzzy) Picture.

The MkII diagram may not help that much with his Mk1 unit.

Cheers

OK, attached a pic with the colors of the wires as seen on the solder side of the plug (too tired to work out the numbering )

No worries! Glad you worked it out - despite me adding two extra z(non-existing) pins. As I said - tired...

No problems there, there was solder left on the connections so I knew where they went. Pity I am so average with a soldering iron however!

Is it possible for you to take some pictures of your sled for me to take a look at please mtempsch. I need to make sure everythings in order, there are four pop riveted things on mine that look a bit bent out of shape.

Thanks Again

I'LL GO SNAP couple of pics - the macro capabilities of my camera (not that interested in photography any more, so haven't gotten around to buying a good digicam... getting by with a hacked "single use" Dakota ) are rather limitedm, but let's see... Be back in a few...

Looking at my sled I fail to see any pop-riveted things... the closest is a thread insert for the wiring loom anchor (about an inch right - looking from the front - from the docking connector)

Any pics of your own (or a closer description)? I'll snap some more and upload to my ISPs webspace (link will follow)
