When I was at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame a year or so back, they were selling framed LPs with the record cover up top and the matte cut in a circle around the record itself. It kind of looks like a "gold record" in the frame, but of course it's black vinyl. I actually have a matte cutter for my wife's artwork, but it can not cut a perfect circle for the record.. Is anyone aware of a company online that sells precut mattes where you could insert your own records and source your own frame? I want to get Abby Road and Dark Side of the Moon on display and off of that shelf they've been on for 30 years!

You'd probably do better getting the cut professionally at a framing house. Most of them have computerized matte cutters now and can do really bizaare shapes. To say nothing of a simple circle.

They make circular mat cutters if you think that your wife's art will ever be non-rectangular.

Ah.. good point. The store that Bitt linked to, Dick Blick is located only a few minutes from my house. I've been there quite a bit. They not only sell the matte cutter (which I didn't know even existed!), but they also do custom matting. Depending on the price, it might be worth picking one up!

PS - You'd be surprised how many modern CDs are released on LP. If any of your a big fans of a particular band, it might be worth looking into getting one framed. You can even pick up good bands like The Clash on record for some cool wall art. My NIN might get done after the Pink Floyd.
