I'm looking for a SCART switch, and wondered if anyone had any advice?

Essentially, our TV has two scart inputs, and I've got 3 things to plug into it (DVD player, Xbox and Myth box).

I found this and this on Amazon UK, but the reviews aren't very complimentary.

Is this a problem with SCART-switching in general, or is better kit available? Or is it not as bad as all that, anyway? Should I just get something cheap until we get a better TV (or, in fact, an amp/decoder with A/V switching, which is what I really want)?

I'm probably not much help, really, but there are some on Amazon made by Strand that have no reviews, and Maplin has a number of switchers as well, which also have no reviews. Somewhere to start looking, anyway.

The first one appears to just be a SCART plug connected to 3 SCART sockets to split a single output into three. Not quite what you want.

Richer sounds appear to have a couple of models. There's a 3 way unit that appears to be able the switch RGB signals and also has a simple routing system. It's pricier at £30 and also pushbutton instead of pin sensing, but I'd imagine it'll do the job and not degrade the picture too much.

I went for a pretty good one - I'll post the type once I get home - it has 3 inputs, with pushbuttons, for DVD, VCR and Satellite, but it also has another 2 buttons for selecting connection type to video and TV (ie straight through to TV, straight through to Video or split - not quite as good a signal, but suitable when you want to watch and record at the same time)

It cost £28 or so

CPC always have a large range of odd cable sets and switch boxes at really good prices. The quality varies (usually according to price), but nothing they sell is "mega crap".

If you search for "scart selector" or "scart switch" on their site they have lots of options: http://www.cpc.co.uk/

ahem - yep it is that one. You'd think, as it is in my line of sight any time I watch the TV that I'd have a good idea of how many buttons it had.

Ah well, I guess I don't use the others, so they have become irrelevant to my consciousness.

It is very good though.

If you wanted to spend a bit more then you can get an intelligent switching model that will automatically change. You can also route audio through this. Mine has 5 scart inputs. I got a Holdan HSR1000 from Keene Electronics which suits my purposes nicely.
