Math is eluding me... quick question...

How much would a swimming pool with the following dimensions weigh?
9 foot diameter (round pool), 26 inch water height.

Seems simple enough but I fail to come up with consistent answers. My math would be to multiply the diameter by pi and then that result by the height. The I have to multiply by something else. As I type this I seem to remember pi * r^2 (radius and not diameter!). Aww crap. Gotta run now though. It seems the patio that my friend decided would be a good option is heaving something awful and I might have to let the water go!

Water's always easier in metric. Your radius is 4.5ft*30.5cm/ft, or 137.25cm. Your depth is 26in*2.54cm/in, or 66cm. Your volume is pi * 137.25^2 * 66, or about 3.9 million cc, so at 1g/cc the water would weigh about 3.9 metric tons, or 4.3 Imperial tons.

so approximately 4000 kgs or 8000 pounds. That's the most likely figure I got as well. The water is currently draining. I wouldn't let my nephew in that with that much weight resting on a few 4x4 posts.

Water is heavy. I got the same answer doing a quick and dirty cubic foot calculation.
Dime store wading pools are usually less than 12" deep, and more like 4-5' diameter (have to fit in the purchaser's automobile).

Hm. This is about the size you're describing, and now that I actually *see* it in a picture, I could imagine that weighing 4 tons. We reinforced our deck before we put our hot tub on it. More posts and footings. I'm glad we did.

You need a sharp knife for chicken Kiev, but not necessarily a pointed one -- a rounded one would do. However, you definitely need a pointed one for de-seeding chillies halved widthways.

I cant think of a way to cut a pocket in a chicken breast without a pointed knife.
I suppose I'm thinking specifically of the preparation where you actually cut a pocket into the breast as opposed to rolling/bunching it.

Again, a rounded sharp knife would do. You could use a butter-knife, if it were sharp all round the rounded end. Mind you, I guess you could also stab someone with a butter-knife if it were sharp all round the end, so there still wouldn't be much gained.
