The fan should be powered from the amp-remote line out of the empeg, through a 250ohm (or more) variable resistor, used to set the desired fan speed. Player on, fan on. Player in standby, fan off.

Yes, it would not work with the var resistor. So I removed it and it works.
Now if I just knew what the little screw like things that hold the latch into the dock were called so I could complete this thing...I would have thought those would have been included....no big deal.

They're called screws

I think they were #4x0.5"xflat_head. This last run of docks was pretty clear about *nothing* other than the wooden bits being included. Anything extra you might have gotten from stock remnants would have been purely a bonus.

Cheers

Ho ho! Ha Ha!

Yeah, it was pretty clear, I just had not thought about them, and did not see it on the parts list, therefore, did not think to get them until after the dock was assembled...my bad! And I did not know if there was a specific one used...If it does not matter then .50cents will take of the issue...
And thanks again for the docks!

The var resistor WILL work with the fan, so long as it's wired into the circuit correctly -- pick one of the two outside contacts for one wire, and the centre contact for the other wire. Done. Turn the centre adjustment until the fan starts and spins reliably.

Well, this is going to be my 'hack dock' for a while, as I want to do some of the wiring over and route it a bit differently, as well as put in a power switch. Maybe a few other mods. Then it will become the docking station for work. Still working on building the 'double docker'...almost finished...now if we can get hijack support for it...hmmm...

I just finished wiring up my mlord dock shell. I have a new appreciation for the amount of work that goes into both making up the shell and wiring all the parts. While the wiring is pretty simple, it can be time consuming for the uninitiated. I spent a good part of the day running around getting various parts, the rest was spent assembling the wire and soldering. Now I have two 'Works' docks. Thanks again MLord for making the docks and doing another run of 'shell' only docks.

Yeah, there's definitely a reason why the bare shells were priced at half the amount of the fully-wired docks!

Cheers!
