The current registration database includes a large number of expired email addresses and entries by people who are nolonger interested in purchasing a player. As the shipping date for the Mark 2 approaches we have decided to improve the accuracy of the information in the database. If you are a registered client currently in the queue for a Mark 2 player you should visit the new registration site at the URL below. Original Mk.1 purchasers should also visit if interested in the Mk.2 upgrade offer. At the site you can confirm or cancel your registration. If you take no action your registration will be automatically cancelled before we start to ship the new player, and you will lose your place in the queue. The URL is http://www.empeg.com/registerNote that we are not taking any orders or payment details at this time - the exercise is to improve the registration database and obtain statistics to enable us to set future production ratios. This announcement will also be sent by email to all registered clients within the next few days. Regards Rob

Not sure what I shoud do, since I bought my Mark1 second-hand. My e-mail address has changed to [email protected] since I originally registered, but the old address is still forwarding to the new address. I'm not planning on getting a Mark2 right away (love the Mark1), although if you offer a faceplate upgrade I will probably take advantage of it. Should I do anything at all? (By the way, I deleted my original queue number when I got the Mark2, so I don't remember it.) Tony FabrisEmpeg #144

If you're not planning to buy a Mark 2 in the next few months you can let your registration lapse. This will happen if you do nothing at all, and you'll remain on the mailing list.

I don't think so - not unless the original owner can transfer his discount to you.

Thanks for this tidbit.
Can you advise on how to handle the fact that I recently traded my Empeg? I intend to purchase a Mark2 and will be taking advantage of the owner upgrade discount -- but I want to make sure the new owner is registered in your database as the CORRECT owner for serial #00311 -- so that he does not run into possible service snags should future service be necessary.

Another question, Rob:
What are the plans for empeg car sales from here. Will we ever get to a stage where one can virtually walk in, plonk the credit card on the table and say "I want a 36 gigger in green, hold the mustard" and it'd be delivered within the week? Will we ever see it in specialist high-quality car audio stores? Or is registering in the queue a good idea even if I can't afford it this year?
Hope it's the first option...

Rob, why did you have to go and do a thing like that? Did you know that I lost my registration number for the third time or what? Now I have to go and send another request to make you poor guys look it up again.
What sane human would want to cancel their place in the queue anyway ;-)

Don't worry about it, the warranty runs from the original date of purchase and it doesn't matter who actually owns the player if there's a claim.
You should complete the new registration form to ensure that you get a Mark 2 with the original owner discount.

The discount is offered to the original purchaser - i.e. the person that we invoiced for the player. They can pass the discount on to you if they don't plan to take advantage of it themselves.
So, in your case, if the original purchaser doesn't want to buy two Mark 2 players then they can pass the discount for one of them to you.

As it says on the registration site, we hope to ship from stock by September. As to whether it becomes available in stores - that will depend on some major policy decisions that have yet to be made.

I've e-mailed [email protected] and haven't recieved a reply yet to find it out. When I signed up on the other "register" area on the site, I didn't get anything e-mailed to me with a number in it. How can I find this out?

If you didn't get a response from your original registration you either entered your email address incorrectly, or you signed up within the last couple of weeks (there are several hundred outstanding registrations at the moment).

The database runs in Access - but the import procedures need a little bit of supervision, and as we're closing the registration system in the not too distant future I haven't bothered to improve this.

It would be nice to get some feedback on this. I submitted my registration, I'd like to get an email or something confirming it so I can be sure I'm not going to miss my chance.

Hi, Doug. Long time no see. I was curious whether or not you intended to take advantage of the discount. It's good to see that you're planning on getting another Empeg. Which is fine with me since I like the Mark 1 just fine. Have you been lurking around here? I added a second hard drive to your Empeg and installed it into a new car. It's doing great. It says to tell you "hi". Tony FabrisEmpeg #144

I haven't written the confirmation email bit yet! I'll get there soon!
Your response won't have been lost, it comes over a secure connection and the browser would complain if there was a problem.

Well, it's nearly the 19th here in NJ and you wrote that on the 5th. I know you're a really busy guy, Rob, but I was just curious as to when we might start seeing replies to our confirmation registrations? An approximate timeframe will do, since I'm sure we don't want to keep bugging you with this when you could be spending your time doing much more important things (whatever they may be) . Thanks. George

The confirmation site doesn't actually say anything about sending a confirmation of confirmation email. In fact it says:
"We will contact you again when we are ready for your order"
The form runs over the secure server so, provided you got as far as the final screen, your confirmation can't get lost.
So, I think I'll leave it at that :-)

Yep, that response will do and you can leave it at that pretty safely. :-) I guess we had the wrong idea then. I could've sworn it said something about emailing a confirmation. I guess we sometimes see what we want to. Thanks for clearing that up, Rob.
