For no good reason, I happened to look at the very bottom of the "Main Index" screen, and saw this:

Extra information
Show favorite forums.
3789 Registered User(s).
Welcome to our newest member, rutherk1
There are no birthdays today.
There are 7 registered and 11 anonymous users online.
Max users online was 153 @ 06/29/04 01:00 AM
Current adjusted date is: 10/14/05 01:04 PM

With 3789 Registered User(s), it seems unlikely that nobody would have a birthday today.

Oh, wait... I bet that putting your birth date into your personal information is optional, so nobody who actually filled out that information has a birthday today. Probably only a few people did that.

It is indeed optional. I only added mine a few months ago.

...and so yet another theory popped into existence, looked about, realized its premises were completely incorrect and so winked back out of existence. It was getting tired of doing so...

Yeah... nothing worse than getting a post typed in, and realizing that it's all wrong. No point in wasting all that typing, though!

Seems awfully sure of itself. None at all? Anywhere? In the world? It probably ought to be something like "None of the users of this BBS, those who bothered to fill in the D.O.B. field, anyway, are having their birthday today."

That'd cover it.

....from googling Leeds Birthdays.

Years ago, before the current state of rampant identity thieft, I heard that having your birthday along with your full name (and address?) made it much easier to find out about you and steal your identity. "Even setting the date off by one number will help," I was told. From them on, I never enter my birthday (or at least my real birthday) online.
