I did a search but the remotes I found were from awhile back and am not sure if there are some new ones that work with the empeg. I'm looking for a ir remote for the steering wheel let me know which ones work these days.

some basic info on steering wheel remotes.

I used a kenwood one and didn't like it.

I know about the Kenwood and Pioneer but was wondering if there are some newer IR remotes that mount on the steering wheel that will work.

It can be difficult to "aim" an IR remote from the steering wheel -- the Empeg player would "miss" seeing many of the commands.

I found the only real time when this was a problem was cornering on the big Carousel at the Nurburgring at about 90mph with the steering wheel cranked waaaaaaaaaaaayyyy over to the left

Yeah, but that was probably in your tiny shoebox of a mini, not a real (big) car!

Cheers

That was my experience with a small kenwood IR remote. This was in a 99 USDM Honda Civic. Pretty small car, but I couldnt get the empeg to see the IR frequently enough. I got frustrated and just removed the thing.

Blaupunt wheel remote is a great design.

Perhaps, but the Blaupunkt remotes don't work with the empeg. My impression is that they probably don't work with anything but Blaupunkt stereos, but I could be wrong in that assumption.
