I have an MK2A and am running player software v2.00 builder image I have two hdd's both are seagates one is 100gb the other is 20gb. Recently I have been having trouble uploading songs to the player. The warning I have been getting is "song name" could not be synchronized error, I am not getting the code that follows the message. Can someone kindly point me in the right direction! I almost forgot I recently upgraded to Hijack ver 444. Thanks in advance.

Install and run the set_empeg_max_fid.v7 script... sounds like you're having the same issues I had and this cleared it up.

Not sure how you can be "running" V2.0 Image Builder. Are you talking about V2.0 Final is installed on the player after you used the Builder to format both disks?

Don't run the set_empeg_max_fid thing unless you're sure it's an issue with the number of tracks. You'd need over 13,000 unique tracks before it was an issue. Is that the case?

Please give us more detail, if you can, about the exact error you get. If you get a "<songname> could not be synchronized" error, does it successfully synchronize the rest of the songs? Perhaps there is something wrong with that specific file on your PC's hard disk.

I don't believe the 13,000 thing ALWAYS applies... It seems to be more based on how often you delete and replace songs. At the time I started having issues with my player, I was nowhere NEAR 13,000 songs but had done a lot of removing playlists and adding more.

He's not described his error too well, but any time I have ANY issues adding songs I run the set empeg max fid and suddenly it all works.

I'm pretty sure the database limit is caused by the total number of playlists plus the total number of songs. Possibly also the amount of data in your tags on the songs. But I don't think the database limit has anything to do with the number of changes you make to the database, since it gets rebuilt from scratch each time. In any case, it seems to always fall in the 10-13k range on average.

My mistake what I meant was V2.0 "developer" image!

Tony I have 302 songs on my player right now. The exact error I get after trying to synchronize with Emplode is under warnings a big yellow exclamation point followed by Initializing then Fall Out(song name) could not be synchronized, error 0xc00... I cannot view the rest of the error code. The rest of the songs are synchronized.
I have ripped three different CD's using dbpoweramp and EAC and have been unsuccessful so far! I also thought there may be a problem with the files and I have deleted them and re-ripped them only to end up not being able to upload them!

Can you use the mouse to stretch the size of the window bigger, or drag the edge of column headers in the error box so that you CAN see the full error code?

Then, as I suspected, it's not related to the number of songs on your player. Forget what anyone said about set_empeg_max_fid.

So is it just the one track, "Fall Out", that's giving you trouble? Can you send other tracks to the player without a problem?

I did try that and to no avail. I don't understand why I cannot see the whole code.

I am sorry Tony I did not see you whole response. I get the error with every song I attempt to upload I just used that one song as an example of the message I get and the particular playlist I was trying to upload had 30 songs in it. I am currently running Windows XP if this helps you any.

Are you using USB or Ethernet? If you are using USB, did you do this when installing emplode?

Also, is the player itself displaying any signs of trouble, such as this?

And as I said... he didn't describe the problem fully in the intial post. I was TRYING to help just as you were... as it's an issue that I've seen with my player and a few others have also with larger hard drives and adding songs...

I would love to know why some people on this board think you know nothing unless you're part of an inner circle?!?! It's rather annoying...

Sorry, didn't mean to act haughty. I was just trying to help Gallagher zero in on his particular problem quickly. Your suggestions are appreciated.

I am using USB and it is functioning properly and I am not experiencing any of the other problems you have pointed out to me. I may do a rwm and then an e2fsck if I get the message.

I hope that was a typo, but, if not, the player's filesystem needs to be in read-only mode (via "rom") before doing an fsck, not read-write mode (via "rwm").

Turn on tracing in the Options dialog. emplode will write the full error code into the log file.

Just to be painfully clear... Did you hand-install the USB driver that came with emplode v2 final?

The reason I'm harping on this is because having synch troubles on windows XP via USB is a known problem if you didn't specifically install the new driver by hand.

Yes the USB was hand installed. Well I successfully uploaded a 30 song playlist after doing an rwm followed by an e2fsck. Thank you Tony for pointing me in the right direction. I initially thought of this problem after doing a search but was unsure because I did not get any of the symptoms that were described but since you pointed me there I figured I had nothing to lose. Thanks and thanks to all who have replied!
