What I want is a box that sits near my TV, takes s-video and audio input and streams a/v over the network (ethernet or wifi) to a client on my Mac.

Does this product exist?

There are a few commercial products which will do that but none of the ones I know of support Macs.

If you're willing to DIY then you can do it with MythTV...

The Slingbox's Mac client is rumored to be announced this month. I have a Slingbox and it works awesome.
