All, anyone actually seen one of these?

Rio Extreme

I'm interested, but it's a little pricy - did one turn up at the meet?

All I saw at the meet was Rio 600s and the Nike player, no Rio 800 or 800 Extreme.

As far as hard drive players, I'm waiting for one to come out of Rio. I'm actually suprisied that noone from the meet talked about this here yet. While Rob, Hugo, or the others never said anything specific, it's pretty certain a hard drive based player will exist with a "Powered by empeg" on it, and also it will possibly syncronize with the empeg-car/Rio-car.

"The Rio 800 Extreme delivers the most advanced level of power and performance you'll ever hear. Capture, mix, and playback up to 12 hours of digital music from the Internet or your CD collection..."

12 hours? Sure, if you record at 64 KBPS. I figure about 5 hours at mid to high level VBR encoding rates. Still, even 5 hours ins't bad for a portable, it's doubtful the batteries would last that long in any case.

It supports WMA, which sounds OK at 64Kbps (for portable use).
