I have designed and built an adapter between the Jensen marine wried remote and
an RS-232 connect intended to connect to my Mk2 player, but I can't get the
female connector on the sled to listen to my commands.

To debug, I have been trying to get hyperterminal to talk to the sled connector.
I can get the male connector on the unit to work fine, but the same stuff
dosn't work on the sled connector. All I get are the boot up messages.

I buzzed out the female DB-9 to the docking connector and found that
the pinout is messed up. Here is what I got:

DB9 pin = Sled Pin = Function
5 = tel. mute. = gnd
3 = yellow = txd
4 = blue = ?
7 = lts. on = ?

As you can see, pin 2 is missing and that should be the RXD pin.
Nither of the other two pins seem to work as the RXD pin.
When looking at the TXD pin, I see the data come out for the boot
messages at 115K buad and then the pin
bounces up and down a few times and then floats. This makes me
think that the RS-232 port is getting disabled after boot.

What do I need to do to get this to work???
How are the light and mute controls muxed with the RS-232 port???

Thanks,

scott.

There was something funny about the pinouts, as I recall (anyone have more details?) but more importantly, when docked in the car, it drops down to 4800 BPS. If you're trying to communicate at 115200 BPS, that's likely your problem.

This number is adjustable with a config.ini modification, but it might be easier just to run your adapter at 4800bps if you can.

Someone else post more info about the pinouts...

There's no ground on the 9w on empeg mk2's, which is probably the problem you're having.
