I have an odd issue happen with leftover right-click-highlight on my screen. A 'refresh' (via right-click on the desktop and choosing 'refresh') does not fix it. Only a log-out/log-on or a screen resolution change will fix it.

Since it's quite hard to google for right-click-highlight, I thought I'd try here. Should I look at the video card driver or some other thing?

Dell 650 Workstation,
Dual Xeon 3.2
4GB RAM
Nvidia Quadro FX 500 Bios Ver 4.34.20.18.13
Driver Version 7.1.8.4 (updates limited by Solidworks 2006 driver 'approval')
2x Viewsonic P95f+ at 1792x1344 32bpp 75Hz

Any thoughts?

Yes, I'd look at the video card driver first. Make sure you've got the latest update of it.

I had a similar problem a while back, and it was the driver. An update fixed it. But something short term - if there is no driver update available, try grabbing TweakUI. This is one of the power toys for windows, and it can force a screen / icon rebuild that was able to fix my symptoms without a more drastic logout.

Thanks guys. A newer driver than the one I have has been approved by Solidworks. I'll install it when I get the chance. I learned a while ago to never try a graphics card driver install at the end of the day - much less a Friday afternoon . Here's hoping!

I use a dell 650, and see that kind of thing too. For instance the Synergy kbd/mouse sharing software tends to strand popups when its system tray icon is used. This is on a 3dLabs Wildcat card.

Cad apps are a pain where graphics cards and drivers are concerned. The card manufacturers rarely keep the drivers up to date with the apps once the card is eclipsed by newer models.
