Hello,

I wanted to upgrade my Empeg 2.0 beta to either the final 2.0 or the 3.0 but found today that none of all my port COM of all my PCs is working...
I cannot connect at all my Empeg through COM port.
Does it comes from the serial Cable ? Do I need a special cable ? How can I check if I have the right cable ?

I forgot to mention, I have one of the last Hijack in my Empeg.
Is there a way it can affect the COM port connection ??

If you're trying to upgrade the Empeg, then Hijack isn't even loaded yet when the upgrade starts. Are you using a normal straight serial cable or a null-modem cable? You need to use a null-modem cable.

Check to see if Hypterterminal works. If not, then the upgrade won't work either. Instructions and troubleshooting steps are here.

Also note: If you were able to install Hijack before, then the serial port had to have worked at some point in the past.

Also note: The version of software you want to install is 2.0 final. Don't use 3.0.

The problem is that I dont remember which cable I used...

What is the reason why I should not use the version 3.0 ?

Also, what version of Hijack are you currently running? There were some changes in serial handling that were changed in the most recent versions. This should not really cause upgrade problems, because the upgrade should occur earlier in the boot process. But if you are just doing testing in advance, it might show up.
