Anyone have any idea if this is the correct part for the sled wiring harness? This would be the plug that fits into the Riocar harness recepticle.

Although doubled, it looks correct.

And the recepticle portion,

The top half of that looks like the right thing.

They thought I was crazy for taking one of those from Hugo's shed. They're really not common at all in the US.

Thanks Rob, I just went to installer.com store in Houston and they couldn't get their head around what it was that I wanted.

I pulled a Metra Kit part number from an old post - Metra 71-1784 and a web xref to BestKits BHO-1784 VW 87-up OEM Radio plug.

That looks like *two* of them.

Here's one of them (from the original RioCar kit):

I agree, I'll check if it is one piece or two and post back.

It isn't two of them. If you look carefully you will see the other side is keyed differently. The other half is the ISO connector with all the speaker outputs.

Confirmed. Metra 71-1784 or BHO-1784 can be used as a replacement or addition to the car harness (not the empeg harness). As Andy pointed out, there are 2 plugs in the the kit but they are keyed differently and only the black one is needed for the empeg. I was able to find the kit by searching on Ebay for BHO1784.
