My tuppence-worth: I have been running FF2 since the day it came out and although it does appear to suffer mildly from memory leakage, I get no odd symptoms even after 10 days uptime (that is my max so far, as I have been playing with my new system so it hasn't had time to test major uptimes)

I've just started to use FF 2. I've waited until now because Tab Mix plus wasn't 2.0 compatible until recently.

One thing annoys me with 2.0 (so far ): when clicking a link to download something, instead of the window where I can choose where to download the clicked file to popping up, now first a little window pops up saying 'you have chosen to open thisfile.ext which is a xxxxxx from http://www.blabla.com. What should FF do with this file? '
Then I have to click on 'save to disk', and only then the usual 'where should I download this file to?' box pops up.

Is there a way I can get rid of this new step? I don't want it, I don't need it and I have no idea what it's good for.

Anybody have any idea?

Thanks!

After 4 days use I now know that 2.0 suffers from the same old problem that I had with 1.5 and before.

After some further use I now know that it suffers from the other long-term bug that I was aware of with 1.5

This particular bug is amazingly specific. Sometimes when I go to http://www.natwest.com/ and click on "Log in" to login to my online banking, the Firefox window closes without any error. It only closes the current window, it doesn't kill the process and it only happens very occasionally. I have never seen it happen on any other website...

Have you told Natwest? I used to have issues using the Co-Op site with Opera, they actually got someone to look at it and do something about it.

I've never bothered because it happens relatively rarely and I don't have any repro steps.

I second that! My favorite extension (plugin? whatever...) by far! I use this all the time, and it's essentially the second half of my net/vidcast collector (Protopage being the first half).

I also use it, but I don't think it's worth it for very small downloads. It can't be beat for large downloads though.
For smaller downloads I use the 'download statusbar' extension, and I love it!
