I lost all of my PC based MP3 files due to a failed drive on an array that (I thought) was raid1. (oops!). The Empeg is the only surviving copy of my music archive. I am now looking for a simple way of getting my music back off of the empeg, *in its original directory structure*

I have played with hijack and charcoalgray's interface, but cannot find a way to do this easily. I can pull individual files with the web interface, I can pull entire playlists with the emplode app. I'd rather not manually grab the files, album by album if I can help it. Considering emplode made its playlists from my directory structure, is there a way short of scripting it myself (which I am not all that good at) to return the playlists to directory structures locally?

I know this is a long shot, and will start the manual process anyway, but am hoping there is a better way.

Open the player in jEmplode and right click the playlist and select Download.. the playlists become folders. at least it did in my case.. Mine is set up Artisti - album - songs

Keep in mind that you would right-click on the "root" playlist and select "download" to download the entire structure at once. You don't have to download each playlist separately.

Also make sure to keep this in mind.

Sonic and Tony, Thank you both! This is exactly what I was looking for!! I've never used jEmplode before, and WOW! It is amazing!! I think my whites are whiter and my colors are even more brilliant now!!!

Oh yeah, and I'm gonna get my music back with a modicum of fuss... (/me does the happy dance for all to see.)

With a small amount of extra effort, you can tweak JEmplode to name the directories / files *exactly* as you prefer it. Eg: "rock/stones/greatest_hits/01_tune1.mp3" versus "rock/stones/stones - greatest hits/01 - tune1.mp3" etc..

The attached "tags" description file can help with this.

Thanks Mark! The field list you supplied is most useful. I actually wound up inferring the config thru looking at the properties page for syntax and testing out some field names from the ID3 tag list. Untimately, I wound up with what I wanted, but having this list would have saved me an hour of frustrating testing last night!
