From the remote if you are in a CD like "Pearl Jam,Pearl jam" and you want to get to track 12 of 12 do you have to cycle to get to 12. I don't see a way to just enter in 12 for Track 12 of the Mp3 CD

huh? what? mp3 CD?

i think you're a bit confused, the empeg doesn't have anything called a "CD" in it.. it has playlists.. as far as I know, there is no way to directly jump to a track number in a selected playlist. :(

You're right, there is no direct-track-number access.

That's because the Empeg isn't playing CDs. it's playing from a database of songs. You have to think about your music collection a little differently. You no longer think about it in terms of "CD/Track" any more. You have to think about it as a huge database of thousands of songs, and decide what you want to listen to based on that concept. Organizing the database as Artist/Album/Track is just one possible (and very limited) way of listening to the music. There are other much more interesting ways to use it.

It's true that if you're listening to a given album, you do have to press the "next track" button 12 times to get to the 12th track (assuming you're on track 1 right now), but the Empeg makes this a lot easier in the following ways:

1) If you've got the track info up on the screen, you can see the names of the songs as you scroll through them. That way, if you don't remember exactly which tracknumber the song was, you'll see the song title.

2) If you have "Now and Next" up on the screen it's even easier. You can see four songs in advance and scroll to the song you want.

3) The track switches are instantaneous, making it a lot easier to get to the 12th song.

I forgot to add:

If you want to get to a specific song, you can always enter its song title directly with the remote control. That way, you don't even have to remember what album it's on. Have you tried the search feature?

I said a Mp3 "CD" because most of my mp3 collection are from CD Albums, I was trying to make a clear distiction between how the empeg accesses tracks and normal cd access of getting to track 12 from track 1

Yes Tony, I have tried all of those features they work okay but I just wanted to know if there was something that I've may have overlooked while playing wi

It it helps, v1.1's track skip is much, much quicker - you can skip ahead of the caching and it will still display the title (etc), but there will be a short pause before you get audio.

Any plans to enable the PREV TRACK button from "track 1" to take you to the final track in that playlist?

Hugo, That's GREAT! I don't remember that being requested here, but it's been bugging me for a while. Sometimes it takes almost 3-5 seconds for the drive to spin up just to get the next track title on the screen.
Thanks for the fix!

Doesn't it do that now? If I select a playlist that includes only one album with shuffle off, it starts with the first track. If I hit Prev Track, it takes me to the last track in that playlist.

That's what I thought, but I don't have my empeg with me right now... and I usually have it in shuffle mode. Seems like just hitting the back button a few times would be the quickest route (even quicker than direct access with a track number of more than one digit.)
