Hi,

I've not been on here for several years and I think my last post in 2005 was about selling my Mk2a 60GB unit plus extras. Well the time has finally come and I think it's about time for me to sell.

I had plans to use it in the living room to store all my music but then I bought an Apple TV and my RioCar no longer has a use. Seems a shame to keep for no reason when one of you may be able to give it a good home.

It's not been used in a car since pre 2004 and was used in the house for a month or two in 2005. Since it has been kept in the spare room in it's original box. I have all the relevant parts, including a wiring loom adaptor for a BMW 5-series E39 (IIRC).

Contents:
- 60GB RioCar Mk2a blue screen
- Serial 030102646
- Car sled
- 3 x original RioCar remotes
- 4 x original unused facias Red, Yellow, Orange, Green
- Box, manual, cd, serial cable, etc

I'm not sure what it's worth and looking on ebay completed listings doesn't bring up much. I'm open to suggestions on here but is it best to just put it on an ebay auction with no reserve? If so am I allowed to post a link to the auction on here?

Thanks for looking

Scoopz

For those who are wandering, all items will be sold as a complete package not sold separately.

PS - my email address on the forum was an old one so I've updated to my current email address should anyone have tried to email me.

I've had several emails about this now and have decided that ebay is the way to go to save back-and-forth bartering via email with numerous people.

I shall hopefully get it on ebay before the weekend with plenty of photos of the unit, accessories, powered up, serial on screen, etc. I never put reserves on my auctions they just annoy me and it'll be starting bid of £0.01!

I will also try and figure out accurate postage costs to Europe, USA and detail them in the listing.

That's all...check back in a day or two for a link to the auction (those who have emailed me, I will email you a link as promised)

Sorry for the delay in getting it on ebay. I have now tested all the remotes but want to format and check the hdd's. I've found a laptop with a serial port (main computer is Apple) and I think i remember what to do in hyperterminal.

Is formatting the HDD's enough or are there special linux commands i can run to verify each sector of the disk?

As long as you do it with the builder image as described in the drive upgrade guide, that should be good enough.

Yes there are, but you only need to do this if you are trying to diagnose a specific problem.

Yes, simply this:

cat /dev/hda > /dev/null

And then just wait for read errors (or hopefully the lack thereof).

Thanks for the replies, I was being a muppet before and applying the rebuild image but when it said "disk already built" I thought it meant it had finsihed and then i reapplied the 2.01 image.

I've now read instructions properly and jumped into Hyperterminal and hit enter to get it to format both properly and I'm leaving it stress testing for a few hours....looking good!

I finally got round to listing my unit on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150161729363

It's on a 10 day auction with no reserve.

The auction has plenty of photos to show condition but there's 53 photos on my web site too:
http://www.scoopz.com/ebay/empeg/

Thanks for looking and to those who have been waiting, thanks for your patience.
