Mixing playlists and songs

I wonder if anybody can reproduce this.
For some reason, I've never tried before to mix songs and playlists on the same level of hierarchy. I always had just songs or just playlists on one given level.
I recently put one song at a level which only contained playlists.
When browsing this song comes up as a little note icon instead of the song name. When going into the icon I get the song name.
This might be normal due to browsing being only able to deal with/display things of the same type but the following definitely seems to me like a bug:
If I click on the little note icon, I end up with a play icon (like the start of all playlists) and the name of the song. If I choose the song, it plays fine, but If choose the start icon it plays the first song in my hierarchy above, i.e. totally the wrong tune.
It seems like the software adds a fake playlist entry (the note icon) but forgets to set some of the fields for that entry.
Anyway, If anybody else gets this I'd love to hear about it.

Yes, I can confirm this as well. I've noticed this but didn't give it much thought. What I usually do is create a Misc sub playlist and dump songs that don't belong to a playlist themselves.
Example,
---------------------------Genre------------------------------
---------------------------Arist--------------------------------
Album1 ----- Album2 ------ Album3 ---- Misc----
song-song song-song song-song song-song
Songs that don't belong to a particular album such as live or bootleg recordings will go into misc.
I haven't found any better way to handle this due to the problem you describe.
Anyone else??

I think that is very normal. If you only have one song in the same level as some playlist (such as a live or remix track in the same level as several albums) I can see how it'd be a little extra work. But, when you have several songs in that level, it is rather conveinient. I guess you could look at that music note as being a misc playlist in its own right. Basically, it lets you go straight to another level or view the songs.

I think you mis-understood my point.
The navigation actually does NOT work properly in that case.
If you have a song on its own like this, selecting the play icon in the virtual playlist that got created for it will not play the song. Instead it will most likely play the first song in the hierarchy above which I think is a bug.
The fact that the empeg creates an extra playlist doesn't bother me, it just doesn't seem to work right now.

I've noticed this behaviour too but didn't think about reporting it as a bug for some reason - don't know why. Although it can be got around by putting these tracks in their own playlist such as "Misc" (as already mentioned) it is still annoying.
Have you reported it to the Empeg guys?

Wow, I guess I do this so rarely that I always assumed I was pressing the wrong button at this point... Sorry for the missunderstanding on my part.

BUMP!
Has anyone from empeg looked into this? 1.03 still has it...
I sent an email to [email protected] a while back but didn't get a reply so maybe it got lost in the void.
If it's already being dealt with or known, ignore this reminder...

I was a little disappointed to see this thread die without any type of answer. Maybe, it's because a work around exists and this is more of an annoyance.
I would appreciate at least a note that it was a design decision becuase xxx or that it is indeed a bug that is very low priority.
Thnaks for bringing it up again.

I'm pretty sure that this is the normal behavior - the little icon is to simply seperate your "songs" from your "playlists" (for easier browsing) - but the behavior is the same as if they were actual songs..

Did anyone email this to [email protected]? It's not a part of anyone's job to monitor the BBS, whereas if a bug makes it into our tracking system it will get allocated to someone specific.

We've fixed this in 1.1, Rob. It wasn't really a one-line fix of any sort, so it didn't make it into 1.03.

Thanks for the update in the messages below.
To answer your question, yes I did send it to [email protected].
I just never got a confirmation that it was registered or anything so I was wondering.
